Basketball Recap: Pine Forest Takes a Loss

Pine Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gulf Breeze Dolphins. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Dolphins are ranked 39th).

Despite the loss, Pine Forest still got an impressive performance from Marlin Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Marco Stallworth, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulf Breeze to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brennen Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Norris, who put up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Pine Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Gulf Breeze, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Pine Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-48 loss against Booker T. Washington on the 13th. As for Gulf Breeze, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-48 victory against Milton on the 13th.
