The Mariner Tritons will challenge the Southwest Florida Christian King at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southwest Florida Christian's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Mariner hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Tritons' pitcher stepped up to hand Cape Coral a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Mariner's victory was all the more impressive since the Seahawks were averaging only 3.76 runs allowed on the season.

She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Tucker, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Rylie Moore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Mariner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Coral only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Southwest Florida Christian won against Lely on Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The King's didn't even let Community School of Naples on the board, marking the King's second-straight 15-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the King's sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Like Mariner, Southwest Florida Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Natalie Recker. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Recker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Candice Chime was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Thorne, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Southwest Florida Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Mariner, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mariner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mariner took their win against Southwest Florida Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2018 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Tritons repeat their success, or do the King's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
