The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged St. Francis out 51-49. Wheatland-Grinnell's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Wheatland-Grinnell found their leader in underclassman Daniel Mason, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Broady Goetz was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Wheatland-Grinnell's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for St. Francis, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland-Grinnell will challenge Wallace County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to face off against Wichita County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wichita County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
