Gaffney and James F. Byrnes are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2018, but not for long. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Gaffney put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They snuck past Eastside with a 40-35 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Gaffney had a senior duo take command as Josiah Hill rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry and Banks Bouton rushed for 104 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. The Indians are undefeated when Hill posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, James F. Byrnes strolled past Riverside with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-27. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Gaffney better keep an eye on Tre Segarra. He was instrumental in James F. Byrnes' win, rushing for 169 yards and two scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 169 rushing yards gave Segarra a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caine Rogers, who threw for 148 yards and four TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes.
One reason for the win was James F. Byrnes' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece. Kelshard Harris was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles.
James F. Byrnes' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Gaffney, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Hill and Segarra. Hill just won't slow down this season and has run in 9 touchdowns while averaging 68.2 rushing yards per game. Segarra has been a dominant force too and has run in 10 touchdowns while averaging 115.8 rushing yards per game.
Gaffney didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against James F. Byrnes in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 15-9 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
