The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers will challenge the Centennial Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Centennial took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Paxton-Buckley-Loda, who comes in off a win.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Iroquois West as Paxton-Buckley-Loda made off with a 10-0 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Tyler Cole and Charles Cambridge made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cole didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Cambridge pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Cole scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Cambridge scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colsen Hayden, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iroquois West only posted an OBP of .280.
Meanwhile, Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-4 to Routt Catholic.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Centennial's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Paxton-Buckley-Loda has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Centennial, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Paxton-Buckley-Loda keep running through batters, or will Centennial buck the trend?
Paxton-Buckley-Loda came up short against Centennial in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 14-11. Can Paxton-Buckley-Loda avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
