AA District 5 recap October 8, 2013
McMinn Central moved up to 146 from 173 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA District 5. The Chargers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Sweetwater 40-17.
McMinn Central led the league in scoring this week by notching 40 points on the Wildcats.
Sequoyah's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brett King threw for 146 yards and Garrett Dalton had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Drew Carson chipped in 107 yards. Alex Stakely helped Sequoyah's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 25 yards.
Dalton was the best receiver in the league this week as the Chiefs lost to Polk County. Dalton racked up 6 receptions for 66 yards. Stakely helped Sequoyah's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 25 yards.
Sequoyah's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Chiefs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. King has thrown for 1,302 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Dalton has 37 catches for 615 yards.
Josh Goodin's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,372 from 6,416. The improvement was the result of a 40-17 victory over Sweetwater last week.
