The Metea Valley Mustangs were the 60-46 winner over the South Elgin Storm when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Metea Valley fell to South Elgin 55-49. Metea Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Metea Valley still got an impressive performance from Lucy Burk, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Burk scored a full 32.7% of Metea Valley's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Reese Valha, who scored ten points along with five assists.
Metea Valley's defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for South Elgin, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15.
Metea Valley will challenge Glenbard North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Glenbard North is ranked 448th, while Metea Valley is ranked 447th). As for South Elgin, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Elgin at 7:00 p.m. Elgin has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
