The Evergreen Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 60-48 victory over Pomona on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Evergreen, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Evergreen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rob Beldock, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beldock has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lukas McCanna, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua James, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Hawkins, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Evergreen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. As for Pomona, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Evergreen will head out on the road to challenge the Farmers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wheat Ridge is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Pomona will take on the Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
