Softball Recap: Salem Has No Trouble Against Clarksville

While Salem didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Clarksville Generals on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Sydney Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Harley Walters was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Salem is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clarksville, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Salem will be playing at home against New Albany at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clarksville, they will venture away from home to face off against Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
