The Fairfield Falcons will head out to challenge the Fremont Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Fairfield turned things around against Concord on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Minutemen.
Andrew Bailey tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Garrett Stoltzfus, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Eli Miller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Fremont earned a 7-3 win over Garrett on Monday.
Colten Guthrie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Fremont's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Cayden Hufnagle was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Fairfield's record is now 7-5. As for Fremont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Fairfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Fremont in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
