Valley Mission recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Van Nuys, who took down 526th ranked Canoga Park, 24-14.
Cris Solano and Malik Ray-Poche provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Reseda. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in Valley Mission this season.
San Fernando's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Solano threw for 187 and two touchdowns and JOSE CAMARGO had 108 yards receiving. On the ground DAEMON THOMPSON chipped in 157 yards. ARMANDO AMPARO helped San Fernando's passing attack out by catching three balls for 51 yards.
The Tigers' Solano and CAMARGO have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Solano has thrown for 709 yards this season, while CAMARGO, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 15 catches for 204 yards. The Wolves' Kyle Jean leads the league in rushing yards with 650.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Van Nuys takes on Sylmar. Sean Pollard's team is in second place, while the Spartans are in third place.
San Fernando moved up to 368 from 579 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Valley Mission. Robert Garcia's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 30-0 win over the Regents.
