Laurens has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Wade Hampton Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laurens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Laurens was the victim of a tough 64-44 defeat at the hands of the Warriors. Laurens has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Laurens got a solid performance out of Keilaund Singleton, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Martineze Shaw, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Wade Hampton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight defeat. They took a hard 66-48 fall against Greer. While losing is never fun, Wade Hampton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 12th).
Laurens has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Wade Hampton, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Laurens didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Generals when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laurens since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
