Mahomet-Seymour has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Charleston Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mahomet-Seymour and Charleston are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Mahomet-Seymour, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-39 loss to Glenwood. While losing is never fun, Mahomet-Seymour can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Glenwood is ranked 84th).
Charleston can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game last Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-39 victory over Terre Haute South Vigo. The win was just what Charleston needed coming off of a 61-28 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charleston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ally Logsdon, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Makaylee Patton, who scored 14 points.
Mahomet-Seymour has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Charleston, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Everything came up roses for Mahomet-Seymour against Charleston in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 74-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mahomet-Seymour since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
