The Mission Hills Grizzlies will face off against the St. Augustine Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mission Hills had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 24-19 W over El Camino.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but St. Augustine ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by Madison 28-27.
St. Augustine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Palmer, who threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Hasten, who picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mission Hills' victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for St. Augustine, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Mission Hills against St. Augustine in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mission Hills since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
