The Blackfoot Broncos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They put the hurt on Bonneville with a sharp 77-51 win. Given Blackfoot's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Bonneville is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blackfoot to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaci Capson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Capson scored 15 or more points. Marlee Pieper was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Bonneville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alyssa Harris. Despite the final result, she scored 34 points. That was a full 66.7% of Bonneville's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bonneville struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Blackfoot is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Bonneville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
