The Delphi Community Oracles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 57-53 W over Winamac. This was payback for Delphi Community, who suffered a 48-42 loss the last time these two teams met.
Delphi Community was led to victory by Walker Jones and Kaydn McAtee. Jones scored 19 points, while McAtee scored 26 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McAtee has scored all season. Levi Coghill was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Winamac's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Malchow, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jayse Bentle, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Delphi Community pushed their record up to 5-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Winamac, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Delphi Community will head out on the road to face off against North Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Newton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on January 6th. As for Winamac, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Judson-San Pierre at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
