The Youngker Roughriders struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Buckeye Hawks had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Youngker took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye. It was the first time this season that Youngker let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Youngker still got an impressive performance from Ares Chambers, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Chambers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Hayden Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Buckeye's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Dargitz led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Leyva, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Youngker's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-6. As for Buckeye, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Youngker will be playing in front of their home fans against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buckeye, they will head out on the road to square off against Estrella Foothills at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
