The Spurger Pirates won the last time they faced the Leggett Pirates, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Spurger walked away with a 44-36 win over Leggett. The win made it back-to-back wins for Spurger.
Despite the loss, Leggett still got an impressive performance from Tamera Henderson, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyanne Simons, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Spurger's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Leggett, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spurger will take on Brookeland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brookeland is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Leggett, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against High Island at 6:00 p.m. High Island has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-5 during that stretch of close contests.
