It was a good run, but the Coastal Christian Centurions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westchester Country Day. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Coastal Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Westchester Country Day is ranked 319th).
When it comes to explaining why Coastal Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Davies. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. The match was Davies' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of George Robertson, who scored ten points.
Coastal Christian's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for Westchester Country Day, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Coastal Christian will take on Our Lady of Mount Carmel in a holiday battle at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at. Our Lady of Mount Carmel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Coastal Christian likes a good challenge. Westchester Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cape Fear Academy at 2:00 p.m. on December 21st. Cape Fear Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
