Makenna Vondenhuevel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Houston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Maier, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Franklin Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to Newton Local.
Bella Langstaff made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
Houston's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Franklin Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Franklin Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Houston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Franklin Monroe, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Houston keep running through batters, or will the Jets buck the trend?
Houston got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Franklin Monroe by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
