Williams has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Joseph City Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
Williams struggled with assists on Saturday (the Redskins had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Williams fell 57-48 to the Redskins.
The losing side was boosted by Kai Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Vazquez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Joseph City waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with 14 straight wins but they left with 15. They secured a 49-45 W over Fort Thomas.
Gabrielle Jesmer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last five games she's played. Amber Neill was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Williams' loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Joseph City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Williams have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Joseph City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Williams was taken down by the Wildcats 70-27 when the teams last played back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Williams was down 36-11.
