Elk Grove is 2-8 against Sheldon since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Wednesday. The Elk Grove Thundering Herd will face off against the Sheldon Huskies at 7:30  p.m. Elk Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1  points per game  this season.
Elk Grove managed to keep up with Franklin until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Elk Grove lost  71-48 to Franklin. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 206th, while the Wildcats are ranked 67th).

 Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from  Jason Raga, who  went 5 of 11  en route to 13  points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Danny Dennaoui, who  posted five points and eight  rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sheldon waltzed into their game  on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They claimed a resounding  90-52 win over the Wildcats. The  match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Huskies had established  a  33 point advantage.
Sheldon found their leader in sophomore  Baron Sabir, who  went 5 for 9  on his way to 23  points. Sabir is also on a roll when it comes to  three-point shooting accuracy, as he's  posted one of at least 40% in the last six games he's  played.  Sebastian James was another key player,  putting up 11 points along with seven  boards and five  blocks.
 Sheldon was working as a unit and  finished the game with 17  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted eight  assists.
 Sheldon's victory was  their fourth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 16-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 74.8 points over those games. As for Elk Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest:  Elk Grove has been crashing the boards this season,  having  averaged 34.5  rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sheldon struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 30.8  boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
 Elk Grove ended up a good deal behind  Sheldon when the teams last played  two weeks ago, losing  61-42. Can Elk Grove avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
