Alexandria-Monroe scaled the state rankings by moving to 148 from 176 this week, the biggest jump in Central Indiana. The Tigers were able to move up by beating Elwood 27-26.
Alexandria-Monroe and the Panthers played the closest game in the league this week, with Alexandria-Monroe eventually emerging with a 27-26 victory. Blaize Kelly threw for 307 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 35 yards during the win.
Zach Daniels was a beast in the backfield as Oak Hill bested Bluffton.
He was 22-33 with 2 interceptions.
Drew Johnson was the best wideout in the league this week as Pete Gast's team beat Elwood. Johnson racked up 7 receptions for 115 yards. Mason Hoke helped Alexandria-Monroe's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 106 yards.
The Tigers' Kelly and Johnson have formed a dream team this season, leading Central Indiana in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Kelly has thrown for 2,550 yards this season, while Johnson has 57 catches for 833 yards. Sammy Mireles from Marty Wells' team leads the league in rushing with 2,522 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Oak Hill takes on second place Alexandria-Monroe. Last week, the Golden Eagles beat the Tigers, while Alexandria-Monroe defeated the Panthers.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Tigers' Johnson goes up against Oak Hill's Caleb Livingston.
Evan Hodges of the Alexandria-Monroe is just 89 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Hodges has rushed for 911 yards on 119 carries so far this year.
Next week's game between the Tigers and the Golden Eagles will feature a good passing match up as Kelly will test his arm against Livingston's defensive ability.
Oak Hill took down Bluffton 55-22 last week, the largest margin of any game. Daniels ran for 214 yards in the win.
