Gospel Light Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Greater Vision Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
Last Tuesday, Gospel Light Christian earned a 61-54 win over Liberty Preparatory Christian.
Drake Walker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Samuel Sisk, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Greater Vision Academy stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 80-53 win over Hickory H. The win was nothing new for Greater Vision Academy as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greater Vision Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johntez Raspberry, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Tobius Baker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Gospel Light Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Greater Vision Academy, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Gospel Light Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Greater Vision Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Gospel Light Christian ended up a good deal behind Greater Vision Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 43-26. Can Gospel Light Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
