Clearwater has gone a perfect 10-0 against Largo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Packers at 7:00 p.m. Clearwater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Clearwater will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Indian Rocks Christian on Monday. The Tornadoes blew past the Eagles 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Kabella Corning made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juleah Patterson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jadah Nicholls, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Clearwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Largo waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 5-2.
Laila Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Miranda Rollins was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Kabakov, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Largo's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Clearwater, their record is now 10-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clearwater hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Largo struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Clearwater's way against Largo in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Clearwater made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
