After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Woodstown, the Penns Grove Red Devils were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 51-22 victory over Riverside.
Penns Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Wright, who rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Wright's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Karon Ceaser was another key contributor, rushing for 180 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
When it comes to explaining why Riverside lost, one person who can't be blamed is John Boston. Despite the final result, he rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown. Boston hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
Penns Grove's victory bumped their record up to 6-6. As for Riverside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Penns Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Riverside will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Florence Township Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Florence Township Memorial is ranked 194th, while Riverside is ranked 213th).
