Softball Recap: Woods Cross Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Woods Cross never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Summit Academy on Friday. They blew past the Bears 17-2. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Savannah Juggert was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Juggert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Audrey Ayala was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Bree Benson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Woods Cross hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit Academy struck out eight times.

Woods Cross' victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Summit Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Woods Cross will welcome Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Providence Hall at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
