Miami Beach has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Mourning Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Miami Beach is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mourning in Florida (Miami Beach is ranked 280th, while Mourning is ranked 658th).
On Monday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Miami Beach had to settle for a 52-49 defeat against Coral Park. Miami Beach has struggled against Coral Park recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Isaiah Lieberperson, who scored 16 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Baptiste T, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Mourning's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Hialeah, falling 62-32.
Despite their loss, Mourning saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kristopher Jean-Jacques, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Jean-Jacques' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Pablo Rivas, who scored seven points.
Mourning struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Miami Beach's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. Mourning's record now sits at 1-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Miami Beach hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.8 points per game. It's a different story for Mourning, though, as they've been averaging only 40.8 points per game. The only thing between Miami Beach and another offensive beatdown is Mourning. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Miami Beach strolled past Mourning when the teams last played back in January of 2021 by a score of 72-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miami Beach since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
