It was fun while it lasted, but Oakland-Craig's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Saturday. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pender Pendragons. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Knights who fell 51-49 when the teams previously met back in March of 2023.
Briar Ray and Sonya Guzinski certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Ray almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, while Guzinski posted 12 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Pelan, who had seven points.
Pender was led to victory by Maya Dolliver and Hadley Walsh. Dolliver went 11 of 17 on her way to 29 points and six rebounds, while Walsh almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dolliver a new career-high in points. Allie Rutar was another key player, putting up six points.
Having lost for the first time this season, Oakland-Craig fell to 9-1. As for Pender, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
