The Calhoun Yellow Jackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Cartersville 62-57. That's two games in a row now that Calhoun has lost by exactly five points.
Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emaree Winston, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Winston hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Landon Chattam, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Calhoun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cartersville only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Monte Tolbert went supernova for Cartersville, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Cain, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Calhoun has not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Cartersville, they pushed their record up to 11-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Calhoun will square off against Dalton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
