The St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Nazareth by a score of 100-88. Winning may never get old, but St. Joseph-by-the-Sea sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Nazareth's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was M. Moore, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Vanessa McManus, who scored 23 points.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Nazareth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Paul VI at 12:20 p.m. on December 17th. Paul VI presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Joseph-by-the-Sea in their respective states (Paul VI is ranked second in New Jersey, while St. Joseph-by-the-Sea is ranked 77th in New York). Nazareth will be home for the holidays to greet Paramount at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Paramount knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Nazareth likes a good challenge.
