For the first time this season, Adamson will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will head out to take on the Hillcrest Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Adamson took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past Sunset 5-4.
Christian Salazar was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Salazar wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Duque, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Abraham Montoya was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). They were the clear victor by a 28-18 margin over White on Friday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Hillcrest got a massive performance out of Angel Jimenez, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with six RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was Jimenez's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Yoarlin Rodriguez, who scored four runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Hillcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Adamson's record is now 6-8-1. As for Hillcrest, their record now sits at 11-5-1.
Adamson suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Adamson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
