Monett hadn't done well against Mt. Vernon recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Everything went the Monett Cubs' way against the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers as the Monett Cubs made off with a 63-42 win. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

The victory got Monett back to even at 5-5. As for Mt. Vernon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monett will challenge Springfield Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will face off against Hollister at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
