Baseball Recap: Johnsburg Wins Going Away Against Harvard

While Johnsburg put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Harvard. The Skyhawks put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Skyhawks, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ahston Stern made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Peyton Mesce looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Landon Johnson and Jack Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Nelson went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. That's the most hits Nelson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaeden Frost, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Johnsburg and bumps their season record up to 19-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Harvard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Looking ahead, Johnsburg is taking a road trip to take on Grayslake North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Harvard, they will face off against Plano at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Reapers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
