The Marshwood Hawks will head out to face off against the Falmouth Navigators at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marshwood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Marshwood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Windham on Tuesday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Tyler Hussey and Ronan Garrett made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Hussey struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garrett pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hussey has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hussey went 1-for-2 with two runs, while Garrett went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Garrett a new career-high.
In other batting news, Liam Tiernan was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Brady Isabelle was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Falmouth fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Thornton Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 2-1.
Josh Polchies made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off four doubles, one stolen base, and one run while going 4-for-5. Those doubles were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sam Shapiro, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
Marshwood's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Falmouth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.
Falmouth's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Marshwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Falmouth, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Marshwood keep running through batters, or will the Navigators buck the trend?
Marshwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Falmouth in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
