Springport put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Union City, posting a 59-15 win at home. Given Springport's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Union City is ranked 618th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maddux Locke was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Springport's points. Another player making a difference was Hope Overweg, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Olivet took their contest at home last Friday with ease, bagging a 59-1 victory over Sexton. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Olivet has managed all season.
Springport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Olivet, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
