Football Recap: Southmont Piles Up the Points Against Delphi Community

Southmont had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Delphi Community Oracles 48-12. Considering the Mounties have won seven matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Southmont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Stadler led the charge by rushing for 189 yards and three scores, while also picking up 46 receiving yards. Stadler didn't just play on offense: he also picked up three sacks, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles. Heath Tolliver was in the mix too, providing Southmont with two TDs.

Another reason for the win was Southmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Stadler was the leader with three.

Southmont pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.2 points over those games. As for Delphi Community, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Southmont will venture away from home to take on Western Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mounties will be up against the Stars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Delphi Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
