The Vernon Vikings will head out on the road to  square off against  the West Milford Highlanders  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Vernon took a loss when they played away from home  last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Friday. Everything went their way against Lakeland Regional as they made off with  a  38-13 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 25  points or more this season.
 Meanwhile, while West Milford put up some  points on Friday, the same  can't be said for Sparta. The Highlanders claimed a resounding  31-0 victory over the Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Highlanders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
 West Milford's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
 Everything went Vernon's way against West Milford in their previous matchup  back in October of 2024, as Vernon made off with  a  21-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
