The Indian Land Warriors will face off against the Northwestern Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Indian Land took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Fort Mill by a score of 4-1. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Olivia Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Logan Thomas was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run. Kendall Hurst also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Northwestern can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Rock Hill. Considering the Trojans have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Indian Land, Northwestern also got a great game from a two-way player: Aubrey Sarna. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sarna was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyla Seibert, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Melton, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Indian Land now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Northwestern, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-6.
Indian Land skirted past Northwestern 5-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Indian Land repeat their success, or does Northwestern has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
