Softball Recap: Hockinson Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hockinson and Washougal meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Hawks blew past the Panthers 18-7. With that victory, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Hockinson got a massive performance out of Lily Ritton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Ritton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Ritton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hockinson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washougal only posted an OBP of .385.

The win snapped Hockinson's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. As for Washougal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Hockinson will have a chance to go back-to-back against Washougal: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
