The Middletown Middies will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Clermont Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Middletown has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Edgewood with points to spare last Saturday, taking the game 60-43. Middletown pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Edgewood cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, everything went West Clermont's way against Ursuline Academy on Monday as West Clermont made off with a 41-21 win. Given West Clermont's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Ursuline Academy is ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Clermont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalie Collins led the charge by scoring seven points along with three steals. Meagyn Riffle was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Middletown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. As for West Clermont, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.
