There's no place like home for the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Vanguard 56-32. Given P.K. Yonge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Vanguard is ranked 433rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
P.K. Yonge found their leader in underclassman Ashlyn Young, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Young is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reniyah Clark, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Sanaria Gunsby and Sylnya Roberson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Roberson is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
P.K. Yonge's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Vanguard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.
P.K. Yonge will head out on the road to take on Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wildwood will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Vanguard, they will be playing at home against Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
