St. Peter's Prep has gone a perfect 10-0 against Kearny recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Marauders will welcome the Kardinals at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Kearny will be up against a hot St. Peter's Prep squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Marauders' pitchers stepped up to hand Ferris a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday.
St. Peter's Prep got a great performance from Eldon Lempa as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Tiago Enright was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. Anthony Huaranga was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Kearny was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Lincoln with a sharp 16-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Kardinals in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.
Brendan More made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. More was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kearny got a massive performance out of Andy Duenas, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Alex Santos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
The victory got St. Peter's Prep back to even at 3-3. As for Kearny, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went St. Peter's Prep's way against Kearny when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as St. Peter's Prep made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Kardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
