The Broomfield Eagles will face off against the Skyline Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Broomfield came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Erie. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Broomfield was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Erie work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Skyline didn't have quite enough to beat Mead on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mavericks 25-19 in the first set.
Skyline started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 15-25, 25-12, 27-25, 15-12.
Broomfield will have to contain Marisol Sanchez as she made an impact in Skyline's last game. She had 26 digs and four aces. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 18 or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Broomfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Broomfield took their victory against Skyline in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
