The La Grange Leopards were the 50-18 winner over the Gonzales Apaches when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. La Grange received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 42-27 to Gonzales. La Grange has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gonzales got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Davonte Smith out in front who rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Smith's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocky Gallegos, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
La Grange's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Gonzales, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Grange will challenge Cuero at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cuero will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Gonzales, they will head out on the road to face off against Giddings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
