After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lamar County, the Winston County Yellowjackets were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Meek by a score of 48-36. For Winston County, this counts as revenge for the 51-47 loss Meek walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Winston County found their leader in underclassman Lynleigh Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Cobb is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Emma Kate Veal was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Winston County's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Meek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.
Winston County will be playing in front of their home fans against Addison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Addison is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Meek, they will head out on the road to face off against Sumiton Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sumiton Christian and Meek are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
