Softball Recap: Jefferson Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Jefferson Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on the Jefferson Saints with a sharp 16-6 victory on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Aubrey Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Jefferson Academy got a massive performance out of Ellie Arnold, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rilea Cordova, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Jefferson Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.

Jefferson Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-14-1. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's still a better percentage than their 4-14 record this season.

Jefferson Academy will head out to square off against Forge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
