The Southwest Christian Academy Lions will head out on the road to take on the Gospel Light Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Southwest Christian Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-21 loss to Christian Ministries Academy.
Meanwhile, Gospel Light Christian strolled past Abundant Life with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-30. Given Gospel Light Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Abundant Life is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southwest Christian Academy's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.0 points per game. As for Gospel Light Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Southwest Christian Academy was dealt a bruising 60-12 loss at the hands of Gospel Light Christian in their previous meeting on January 8th. Can Southwest Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
