Baseball Recap: Egg Harbor Township Triumphs

The Egg Harbor Township Eagles were able to grind out a solid victory over the Pennsauken Indians on Tuesday, taking the game 7-2.

Brody Grimes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Salsbery, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Egg Harbor Township is undefeated when Salsbery posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chip Clooney, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Egg Harbor Township's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Pennsauken, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-4.

Coming up, Egg Harbor Township will head out on the road to challenge Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Chiefs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Pennsauken, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Deptford at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
