Basketball Recap: Central Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Central entered their tilt with Southwest EC on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 55-32 margin over the Eagles. The Spartans pushed the score to 51-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than ROY MENDEZ, who posted nine points and three steals. MENDEZ has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. JOAP SOTO-CHAVEZ was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Southwest EC lost, don't look at Ayden Johnson. Despite the final result, he earned 11 points and eight rebounds.

Central's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Southwest EC, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-20.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-48 loss against Imperial on the 10th. As for Southwest EC, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-43 defeat against Holtville on the 12th.
